"We purchased a home in July of 2015 using Blake as our agent. We wanted a family home, near our son's school with a flat yard and room for a home office since my husband and I both work from home. "Blake represented me as a “buyer’s agent” in the spring of 2014. She was recommended by my son and daughter in law. I preferred to work with a buyer’s agent who could best represent me, without the conflict of interest I personally perceive in dual agents.
Blake spent a lot of time asking me questions to help refine the search process. This was especially important as I was living out of town, and traveling back and forth to Asheville. She was very knowledgable about the local housing market and neighborhoods. She immediately set up an online account which permitted me to view properties that fit my search parameters and was readily available to answer questions. She accommodated my schedule and was available on short notice to show me properties.
At that time, real estate in Asheville was hot, and would often go under contract before I could view it. This complicated my out of town search and was very frustrating. Blake remained patient and when I found the property I wanted, which was under construction, she helped me negotiate with the builder. As I was still living out of town, she regularly sent me updates and photographs documenting the progress of the home. She was attentive to details that I might otherwise have missed.
Perhaps the most unique service Blake provided me was her help and kindness when my mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness three weeks before my closing date. I needed to travel to spend time with my mother, and was not able to be present at the home inspection or final installation of lighting fixtures, etc. Blake oversaw all of this. She was empathetic, generous, and supportive. It was a relief to know that Blake could handle so many of the details that I simply could not be there to oversee. She acted as my agent and friend, providing professional oversight and guidance at a particularly challenging time for me.
She has continued to be a resource, even recommending a great veterinarian! In addition to her professional skills, she has a delightful personality which makes her easy to work with. With her children and golden/border collie mix, she and her husband enjoy hiking and running in Bent Creek, the many festivals in and around town, WNC Nature Center, and Biltmore's trails and farm animal area. She also enjoys a day hike at Max Patch and a good soak in the Hot Springs natural spa.
