North Buncombe offers rural living with easy access to downtown Asheville.  Due to its elevation and topography, North Buncombe has remained a fairly low-density area, but its close proximity to Asheville and beautiful scenery has made it a popular area to live.  Future development is bound to occur making it a safe investment.

This area offers convenience to downtown, historic neighborhoods, and great access to shopping.  It is one of the most sough our areas in Buncombe county, as well as one of the most expensive.

Northwest Buncombe

General Description:
This area is known mostly for its rural traits.  Common themes reflected in this area are large acreage, farms and privacy.  There are a lot of tracts of land lefts, so watch out for future development to take place.  Most of the road access is on two lane country roads, so travel time for commutes may be an issue.

South Asheville

General Description:
South Asheville is probably the fastest growing and most densely populated area in Buncombe County.  It has a more gentle topography as well as good access to public utilities, which makes it more desirable for development.  It is known for having a great school system and is home to many of Buncombe County’s larger residential developments like Biltmore Park.  South Asheville is also home to a lot of large-scale commercial developments.  Hendersonville and Airport Roads house a number of businesses and most of the necessary shopping conveniences most people need.

Fairview

General Description:
Once known as a primarily rural area with many farms and large acreage tracts, Fairview has seen a lot of development in the past few years.  This is mainly due to the widening of Route 74 from two lanes to four.  You can still find a wide range of housing types from farms to condominiums.  There are also several new commercial developments providing residents with many conveniences.  Easy access to Asheville, great schools, and beautiful scenery make Fairview an attractive place to call home.

Access to Blue Ridge Parkway, Close Proximity to Tunnel Road and the Asheville Mall, Close to Lake Lure

Downtown Asheville

General Description:
Downtown Asheville is a vibrant place.  You will find world-class dining, street performers, nightlife, symphony, community theatre, and much more.  The latest trend has been the conversion of old buildings into residential condos.  This will continue as several more large-scale projects are in the works.

East Buncombe:

Convenient to many shopping and recreation destinations, East Buncombe and Black Mountain are attractive places to live.  They offer a number of different property types, from rural to planned developments with amenities.  Black Mountain has its own downtown with restaurants, galleries and shops.

Once mostly a rural community, Enka/Candler has really started to develop in recent years.  The largest development at this point is Biltmore Lake.  There are still quite a few large farms and acreage tracts.  Interstate access makes this community accessible.
